SCANFLICK SETUP GUIDE
Set up an IPTV player on a Samsung or LG Smart TV
Start with your exact TV model, not just the Samsung or LG name. Samsung Tizen and LG webOS have their own app stores, and a player available on one TV may be missing on another. Older models may not support current apps. Check the listing for your TV and region before making setup decisions.
This guide is for viewers in the USA and Canada using apps only with authorized, licensed content. ScanFlick is not affiliated with third-party player apps or their developers, and app availability can change. Installing a player, activating its software and adding a content playlist are separate tasks. Menu names vary by model, region and installed software.

Find your Samsung or LG model and software version
Record the full model code and installed software version before searching for a player. A firmware number is not necessarily the Tizen or webOS version. Copy each label as shown rather than guessing the operating system from a number.
- On Samsung, open Settings, then All Settings if shown, then Support and About This TV or About TV. Some older menus use Contact Samsung. Note Model Code and Software Version.
- On LG webOS 23 and later, open Settings, then the full settings menu using its gear icon, then Support and TV Information. On webOS 5.0, use All Settings, Support and TV Information.
- On LG webOS 6.0 or webOS 22, use All Settings, General, Devices, TV Management and TV Information. On webOS 4.5 and earlier, use All Settings, General, About This TV and TV Information.
- Copy the LG model and S/W version. To check the webOS version, LG also documents pressing Mute three times in succession. If a version label is missing or your menus differ, consult the manufacturer's manual for that exact model instead of assuming.
Tip: Keep model and version notes private. Do not publish a full information-screen photo containing serial numbers or device identifiers.
Install a player from Samsung Smart Hub Apps
Use the TV's official Apps store within Smart Hub. Samsung says only apps available in its TV app store can be installed. Complete any Samsung account sign-in or required setup on your own device; never send anyone your account password.
- Press Home, open Apps and select the Search icon. Search for the exact player name you intend to use.
- Open the result and check the developer and description. Install only the intended app if its listing is available on your TV.
- Select Install, then open the downloaded app from Home or Apps. If needed, use the app options in Apps settings to Add to Home.
Tip: If no matching listing appears, stop. A similarly named app is not automatically the same product.
Install a player from LG Apps or LG Content Store
LG's store entry changes with webOS generation. Its instructions show Apps on webOS 22 and LG Content Store on webOS 5.0. Use the entry present on your TV; the store checks availability for its model and region.
- Press Home and open Apps or LG Content Store. Select the Search icon and enter the exact app name.
- Open the result's detail page. Check the developer, supported-TV information and any requirements before choosing Install.
- When installation finishes, select Launch. Follow any on-screen store or account prompts privately on your own device.
Tip: A listing visible on a website or another household's TV does not establish support for your particular model.
Pair the app and add an authorized playlist
Some TV players show a device MAC address and a device key, then use the developer's website to manage playlists. Others use different setup screens. Follow the installed app's instructions. A device key is a pairing credential, not your Samsung or LG account password.
- Open the player and find its setup or device-information screen. Privately record the MAC address and device key if displayed. Use the identifiers shown inside the app, not a wired or wireless address chosen from TV settings.
- On your phone or computer, open the developer website identified by the installed app. Check the address carefully before entering anything; do not use a lookalike page found in an advertisement.
- Open the developer's playlist-management area and enter the requested app identifiers. Add only the authorized playlist URL in the format the app accepts, following its field labels.
- Save the playlist, then restart the player as its instructions require. If the app separately requests software activation, read the developer's terms; playlist entry does not replace that step.
Tip: Treat playlist links and device keys as sensitive. Do not post them publicly or include them in troubleshooting screenshots.
Update Samsung firmware and LG webOS software
Check TV software before troubleshooting repeated app failures. Updates may address bugs, but do not establish support for a missing app. Keep power and the internet connected while an update installs.
- On Samsung, open Settings, All Settings, Support, Software Update and Update Now. If Software Update is grayed out while a streaming app is running, switch to the TV source and try again.
- On LG webOS 5.0 and later, open Settings, All Settings, Support, Software Update and Check for Updates. On webOS 4.5 and earlier, use All Settings, General, About This TV and Check for Updates.
- Follow the update prompts and allow any automatic restart. Samsung app updates are separate: in Home, Apps, App Settings, enable Auto Update if that option is available.
Check Wi-Fi before changing player settings
If loading stalls, first check whether another device can use the same home network. If several devices fail, investigate the router or internet connection rather than repeatedly adding the playlist. Restart your router and modem according to their instructions, remembering this disconnects other household devices.
Walls and distance can weaken Wi-Fi. Move the router closer where practical, or try Ethernet between the router and the TV's LAN port if your model has one. On Samsung models with a One Connect Box, the LAN connection may be on that box. Ethernet is a diagnostic option, not a guarantee against buffering.
Resolve missing apps, empty playlists and failed playback
For a missing app, confirm the spelling, TV model and regional store listing. Older models can lack support even after their latest available update. Do not switch store countries or use unofficial installation instructions just to force a listing.
For an empty playlist, check that the website used the identifiers from the correct player on the correct TV. Recheck the playlist entry for extra spaces or incomplete text, then restart the app. Do not delete existing playlists without understanding the developer's reset instructions.
For playback that still fails, note the exact error and whether the app opens normally. Separate a store or TV-network problem from a playlist-loading problem. Ask setup questions with the model, software version and error text, without sending passwords or exposed playlist links. After a ScanFlick request is confirmed, the team shares the setup details to use and can answer setup questions on WhatsApp.
Samsung & LG Smart TV: common questions
Can I install an Android APK on Samsung Tizen or LG webOS?
Use the official TV store for your platform instead. An Android installation guide is not a Samsung Tizen or LG webOS procedure. If the player has no listing for your TV, check the developer's supported platforms rather than trying an unrelated installer.
Which MAC address should I use for a TV player?
Use the address displayed inside that player when its setup screen requests it. Samsung TV settings can show separate wired and wireless MAC addresses. Do not substitute either unless the app developer explicitly tells you to. Enter a device key only on the verified developer setup page.
Does activating a player also add my playlist?
Not necessarily. Player-software activation and playlist management are separate processes in some apps. Check both screens and the developer's instructions. Use the app only with authorized, licensed content, and never assume software activation grants access to a particular playlist.
Does a ScanFlick plan request take payment on the website?
No. ScanFlick lets visitors compare four Premium IPTV plan durations and send a request. The team confirms requests manually on WhatsApp. After confirmation, the team shares the setup details to use and can answer setup questions; submitting the form does not configure your TV player.
